Disney Plus – How to Set Parental Controls
Setting strict age ratings on a profile is worthless if your kid can access restricted content on a different account. So theres PIN protection to keep them out of places they shouldnt be in.
On the Edit Profile screen, click Profile PIN at the very bottom of the page and enter your password when prompted.
Once you reach this screen youll want to tick the box that says Limit access to this profile with a 4-digit PIN. That will prevent anyone else getting into your profile without permission.
Then enter a four digit code in the field provided, and hit save. Your profile will then be locked, and Disney will send an email notification informing you of whats happened.
Head back to the home screen and youll see that the newly-protected profile has a lock underneath.
Trying to access it brings up this screen, asking for extra verification before you can watch anything. So now you know everything is set up properly, and keeps your curious kids away from the likes of Kingsman or Borat.
Does Disney Plus Have Parental Controls
The easy answer is Yes. First, Disney Plus allows parents to create a special Kids Profile. When this profile is engaged on your Disney Plus account, the user interface on both the web and on mobile apps becomes simplified for younger kids. More importantly. the profile only allows Disney Plus content that is either rated G by the Motion Pictures Association of America or TV-7FV by the US TV Parental Guidelines. Disney Plus in other countries uses the corresponding ratings in their markets for Kids Profile. Its very simple to set up a Disney Plus Kids Profile. How Much Does The Star Streaming Service Cost
There is no additional charge for Star content. Just like all other content on Disney+ it is included in your subscription at no extra charge. Since in most countries this is effectively a new extra channel for Disney+, there is a resulting slight increase to the price of the service by ~2 per month or ~10 per year.
However, if you sign-up for Disney+ before February 23rd, you can lock-in your current price for six months if paid monthly and a year if you subscribe annually.

The Biggest Drawback Is Huge
Unlike services such as Netflix, Hulu, and , Disney Plus does not currently have a lock, password, or PIN system that protects a regular account from others. Therefore, all someone with a kids account needs to access other content is to change to a regular user account or adjust their profile type. In other words, theres no protection.

Disney+'s parental controls are useless if your kid can bypass them. Here are two simple tips to lock things down:
- Kids can bypass the content ratings youâve set up by exiting a protected account and opening yours . You'll need to set up a PIN for all adult profiles in order to prevent this from happening. Set up a PIN under the parental control settings for each account.
- If your child watches from a tablet or computer, make sure the account password isn't saved, or they will be able to use it to bypass the system.
Disney Plus Parental Controls For Children
At first, the parental control feature on Disney Plus was available only in the US, but Disney Star made it available outside the US. Using these options, your kids will only be able to rate contents as TV-Y, G, TV-G, and TV-Y7/Y7-FV.
You can use this option simply by creating your kid's profile. Contents that you can view might vary as per the content rating that different countries have. For instance, if the US TV Parental Guidelines rate "TV-7FV" for any content, it is suitable for children.

Setting Up Content Ratings On The Disney Profiles
Disney+ also includes the new parental controls feature to block content access for a specific profile on Disney plus depending on content ratings. The movies and tv shows are blocked by choosing the rating whenever you want to prevent access to certain content on Disney Plus, and shows which are not labeled as G or TV-7FV are automatically blocked when this mode is enabled.

What Parental Controls Can't Do
It's important to note that Disney's parental controls do not let you set a time limit for watching shows. If your child is using a tablet or computer, you may be able to set a limit through the device's parental controls. Smart TVs and streaming devices like Roku or FireTV don't have these restrictions built in.
Remember also that these parental controls depend on television and movie rating systems or selections made by Disney. There is no guarantee that these standards will line up with your family's standards.

Update: Parental Controls Have Expanded Features
Starting February 23rd, 2021, Disney has expanded its Parental Controls. According to the Disney announcement: Disney+ has added new parental controls, including the ability to set limits on access to content for specific profiles based on content ratings and the ability to add a PIN to lock profiles with access to mature content.
Go to the Edit Profile section of the app. Then, under the Parental Controls section, select Content Rating.
There you can choose between different age ranges for content. Now the controls will feature different age tiers, including settings for 9+, 12+, 14+, 16+, and 18+.

How Do I Lock My Disney Plus Profiles
To lock your Disney Plus profile, you should add a four-digit PIN. Here's how you can add the PIN on your Disney Plus profiles:
- First of all, locate and click on your profile.
- Now, select the account on which you want to add a four-digit PIN.
- Select Profile PIN.
- Select the Check Box to activate the PIN section.
- Enter the four-digit PIN, and youâre done. You have locked your profile.
Change The Profile's Content Rating
at the bottom of your screen, and input your password when prompted.
Youll then be transferred to a screen that gives you much finer control over what content your profile can see. So select the most appropriate age rating for your own kids, so you can be sure theyre not watching something inappropriate.
After all something like Family Guy may not be an 18+ title, but it definitely isnt suitable for a six year old.

Yes, you can block Disney Plus shows by setting up various parental controls on Disney for seven different profiles and locking profiles with PINs to block Disney Plus shows.
When you create a Disney profile for the first time, it automatically becomes a kids profile with a G, TV-Y, TV-Y7/Y7-FV, or TV-G rating on Disney Plus. CURRENT AS OF FEBRUARY 23, 2021: Disney Plus parental control has added several safeguards to protect your kids from seeing what you dont want them to see.
- Kid-Proof Exit || You can choose a question that has to be answered for someone to leave a child profile. Therefore, you can leave the profile on the device your child uses and simply not tell them the answer. They wont be able to navigate to a different user profile or even out of theirs. To choose this setting, toggle on the Kid-proof Exit switch in the Parental Controls menu.
- Profile PIN || Parents can now set a PIN number to protect a profile. Therefore, if you and your child share a device, theyll never be able to get to your profile without the password. You could also create a PIN for an older child who may have different viewing privileges than a younger sibling. Set up or change your PIN in the Parental Controls.
- Profile Creation Restriction || To prevent your child from creating other profiles without the restrictions you prefer they have, you can create a password thats required to do so. You can set up this safeguard in your Disney+ account settings.

Is Disney Plus Safe For Kids

How To Opt In/out Of Disney+ Star Content
Youll have the option to enable or disable Star content from the first time you log in after 23 February. Heres what you need to do:
- Open Disney+ and choose your profile
- The Star page will pop up select Continue
- If you want movies and TV with an 18+ rating, select FULL CATALOGUE. If you dont, select Not Now
- Confirm your choice by logging in with your password
- Choose whether you want to create a profile PIN
- Choose whether you want to select age ratings for other profiles on your account
If you opt to skip these options, the Disney+ library will automatically default to a 14+ rating. You can change this anytime by entering the settings.
Disney Plus Parental Control: Child Profiles
You can customize settings for each person who uses your Disney Plus account. This is particularly helpful if you have more than one child because you can tailor the settings for each kid based on their age and maturity level. To get started, create a Kids Profile for each child. You can have up to seven profiles per subscription.

The Disney+ service includes programs and movies that go back to the 1920s. These shows are left in their original format with their original content. Some of this programming contains cultural misappropriation and depictions that were included in the original show, but Disney would never include these depictions in media created now. Disney recognizes that these depictions are not appropriate in current media and wants to ensure that viewers are aware of this. Disney does not block the content but does present a warning message when the movie or program begins playing. The warning message states, This program is presented as originally created. It may contain outdated cultural depictions. In addition to the Outdated Cultural Depictions message presented in the top left of the screen, Disney has also included this information in the Details section of the movie or program where viewers can find a description of the show or movie.

Option : Content Ratings
Content rating restrictions provide an option for older kids. Parents can set the content level for a profile to any level they want. The rating choices you can see are based on your country, but the default profile in the U.S. is set to include PG-13 and TV-14 content.
To set up content ratings for a profile:
1. Go to the profile selection screen or menu.
2. Select the "Edit Profiles" button, then select the profile you want to make into a kid's profile.
3. Select "Parental Controls." If the version of the Disney+ app you are using doesn't support creating parental controls, you may need to do this on a phone or computer. Once set up, the controls will be in force on all devices.
